About Casting
What does it mean to cast at Sustainable Collapse?

If you’ve ever played a video game, or a table-top roleplaying game, you know what an NPC (non-player character) is. They’re all of the characters that make up the world- the shop keepers, the villains, the townsfolk and nobility, the monsters, the creatures in distress and the ones doing the distressing, etc.

When Sustainable Collapse players enter our world, it can’t be empty. We need people to populate it, to help make the stories happen. That is what it means to be cast; you would join our team to play multiple roles over the course of the weekend.

If you like acting or an improv challenge, you’ll love our roleplay-heavy roles like politicians, merchants, people in trouble, and teachers.

If that doesn’t sound like a good time, no worries! You might be interested in our more combat-heavy roles, like monsters, spellcasters, sword-fighters, and gunslingers- the people that our players get to fight against.

Not sure if any of that is for you? We have something for everyone, and we can find something you’ll love doing.

So, what does it cost? Well, for you, nothing. We’ll feed you, give you a place to sleep, provide costuming, makeup, props, weapons, and stories- everything you need for the weekend besides some personal basics. All you need to do is get there.

Casting is also a great way to try out LARPing if you think you may want to play but aren't sure yet. It gives you an opportunity to try out a lot of different aspects of the game in a short period of time, and get a sense for what you do and don't like.
